Premier Choice Group, the specialist healthcare intermediary has appointed Les Schroeter as head of individual protection. The appointment is part of its drive to significantly increase the level of protection business the firm writes.
Les will be responsible for the broad protection strategy and the development of strong relationships internally and externally to grow sales of personal and business protection. He will report directly to Mike Izzard, chief executive of Premier Choice Group.
Previously Les was national accounts manager at Friends Life, responsible for managing the relationship between the provider and some of its largest intermediary partners. Prior to that Les spent 17 years with Bupa in a variety of roles, mainly in intermediary sales through its protection arm Bupa Health Assurance (BHA). As business manager for long term care, Les succeeded to create Bupa’s early dominance in the long term care insurance market. Latterly as Southern Regional manager and national accounts manager he made significant contribution to BHA’s growth as a highly respected, successful protection provider leading to its takeover by Friends Life. Mike Izzard says: “Premier Choice is committed to protect the health of its clients and we do a great job on the physical health, but we also recognise the financial impact ill health (and death) can have on our clients, their families, and businesses. Les will provide us with the capability of extending our services to protect our clients’ financial health as they plan for a life of financial stability.”
